Get started
One OTLP endpoint and one API key. Spanport authenticates, applies swarm-aware policy, and fans out to your tracers.
1. Mint a key
In the control plane, create a project and mint a key. Copy the secret once — only the prefix is stored for display.
# Save locally (never commit)
export SPANPORT_API_KEY='spc_live_…'2. Point OTLP at Spanport
Default local gateway is http://127.0.0.1:4318. Hosted ingest will be https://otlp.spanport.dev when DNS is live.
export OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_ENDPOINT=http://127.0.0.1:4318
export OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_TRACES_ENDPOINT=http://127.0.0.1:4318/v1/traces
export OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_HEADERS="Authorization=Bearer ${SPANPORT_API_KEY}"3. Send a trace
curl -s "$OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_TRACES_ENDPOINT" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SPANPORT_API_KEY" \
-H "content-type: application/json" \
-H "traceparent: 00-aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb-01" \
